Description
Galleon House is believed to have been built around 1702 and is located in the heart of this immensely popular sailing village and offers deceptively spacious accommodation of great character with harbour views from two first floor bedrooms.
Grade II Listed, Galleon House offers accommodation of immense charm with a number of period features throughout including open fireplaces and intricate cornicing to the majority of the rooms. The property has had an interesting past with one of the reception rooms being used as a sweet shop back in 1926. The accommodation comprises of an elegant drawing room with open fireplace which opens to a further reception area. There is a separate sitting room, dining room and study. The L-shaped kitchen/breakfast room has views over the courtyard garden and there is also a glazed garden room. Off the kitchen lies a useful utility area with walk-in stores, separate cloakroom and utility room. There is a cellar beneath the drawing room.
On the first floor the principal bedroom has harbour views and has an en-suite bathroom and dressing room, which could be used as a fourth bedroom. There are two further bedrooms and a bathroom.
Outside
Galleon House has off-road parking to the front and to the rear is an enclosed, walled courtyard garden with views towards Bosham church.
Location
The historic High Street lies within a short walk of Bosham Sailing Club and Quay Meadow. There are a number of shops and galleries in the old village centre together with the Anchor Bleu public house and a short walk along Bosham Lane brings the visitor to the Millstream Hotel. In Delling Lane there is also a village post office/store and about a mile to the north lies Bosham station together with a collection of further local shops. The station provides a convenient railway halt providing services to either Havant or Chichester which in turn provides regular services to London Waterloo or London Victoria respectively.
Bosham of course has its own sailing club and others can be found in Itchenor, Dell Quay, Chichester Marina and Emsworth. The estuaries and channels of Chichester Harbour provide one of the most picturesque sailing environments within easy reach of London and are ideal for dinghy sailing or day boats. As the main channel reaches the sea it passes the famous National Trust Reserve of East Head with its sandy blue flag beaches at West Wittering.
