Description
A charming and detached period village school conversion with impressive rooms & landscaped gardens.
The Old School is an extremely charming detached traditional Victorian school conversion with date stone reading 1875 and built of mellow brick under pantile roof set in attractive landscaped gardens. Inside the property is an impressive sitting room which was formally the school room, with vaulted ceiling above a striking timber framed double glazed arch window, alongside exposed timber trusses with steel ties, and finished off with a large wood burning stove and brick fire surround. Adjacent to this is another former school room now utilised as a large downstairs bedroom and also with a large double-glazed window. The entrance hall has a stunning tumbled oak herringbone parquet floor with underfloor heating leading into a bright and airy kitchen with recently fitted Schmidt units under Dekton worktops with two built in ovens, induction hob with integrated ventilation system all under a glass ceiling lantern and also with a north facing pantry. The kitchen is semi open plan to the dining room with French doors to rear garden, fitted glazed storage cupboards and through to a snug with wood burning stove and marble fire surround, and double-glazed arch window. In addition, the ground floor also has a utility area with original school door and two downstairs shower rooms all with fired earth porcelain flooring.
Upstairs there are two good sized bedrooms both with fitted cupboards and one with large dressing room. The bathroom enjoys a freestanding roll top slipper bath with Japanese-style toilet, original cast iron fireplace and Amtico Décor flooring. On the second floor are two further attic rooms with velux windows currently used as hobby and storage rooms.
This property has 0.26 acres of land. Outside
Outside, the property is approached via a gravel drive alongside a lawned front garden partly left to wildflower meadow with attractive flower bed borders and gravel paths around the property. By the entrance door is sheltered and private walled courtyard garden with well stocked beds and adjacent Catalpa tree. To the rear of the property is a landscaped low maintenance woodland garden with curved brick pathways alongside a large well with bespoke iron cover and an outbuilding currently used as a gym.
