History
The school bares the Packe family crest in a stone cartouche on the central gable, reflecting its distinguished heritage. It replaced an earlier school dating from 1840, itself relocated from the churchyard and originally founded in 1657. Enlarged in 1882, the property became a Board School serving Burton on the Wolds and Walton on the Wolds, accommodating around 128 pupils in the late 19th century. The school was eventually superseded by a newer facility in Burton and has since been sensitively converted for residential use.
