Description
A fantastic four bedroomed family home situated in the heart of the most picturesque village with a delightful garden and parking.
THE PROPERTY
Situated in the heart of one of the most picturesque and popular villages, first glimpses of Manor Farmhouse are most impressive with its hugely attractive faade constructed of local stone under a tiled roof.
Dating back to the 17th century and justifiably Grade II listed of architectural and historical importance, this is a truly wonderful family home. On first entering the property there is a real sense of charm and space with very well presented and flexible accommodation to suit most family's needs. You are immediately greeted by a large reception/dining hall with attractive stone flooring. Alongside is a perfectly proportioned sitting room with a large inglenook fireplace and wood burning stove, two window seats, original shutters and exposed wooden beams. Like many rooms in this fantastic house there is a perfect juxtaposition of old and new, with many period features still remaining but also very sympathetic modernisation. Beyond the hall is cloakroom and utility room, and a superb kitchen incorporating an Aga (cream) and breakfast bar and a number of attractive wall and base units. There is also a French door leading out to the garden and paved terrace, ideal for al fresco dining. Also on the ground floor is another large reception room with a wood burning stove, and a study alongside.
The bedrooms are situated on the first floor with four beautiful bedrooms including a large principal bedroom with an en suite bathroom and walk in wardrobe. There is also a large separate family bathroom.
The garden is situated to the rear of the property and is an absolute delight, with a lower paved eating terrace, ornamental pond and lawned area ideal for children and animals. There is also a double garage at the far and, and parking.
All in all, this is a truly wonderful family home in an idyllic yet very convenient location.
LOCATION
The pretty conservation village of Walditch is predominantly made up of period stone and thatched cottages with a picturesque church, village green, village hall hosting a variety of clubs and community activities and children's play area. It also boasts a real tennis court on the site of which Henry VII played during his visits to the area. With easy access to numerous walks in the shallow and lightly wooded AONB in which it lies, the village is also less than 3 miles to the Jurassic Coast at West Bay, with its extensive network of coastal and bridle paths.
Walditch is conveniently situated just over a mile to the east of the vibrant and popular market town of Bridport, which retains an excellent number of independent shops and restaurants and a thriving street market held on Saturdays and Wednesdays, along with an interesting vintage quarter. There is also a good Cottage Hospital, a large Medical Centre, popular Leisure Centre, a successful Arts Centre and a number of independent festivals involving the Arts which are held throughout the year. Several supermarkets, including Waitrose, are also in the town.
Within convenient driving distance is the County Town of Dorchester which has an excellent range of facilities including shops, restaurants, public houses, supermarkets including a Waitrose and Tesco and Dorchester County Hospital. Also worth a mention is the vibrant development at Brewery Square with its cinema, bars, restaurants and leading shops. There are two railway stations with regular services to London Waterloo and Bristol in Dorchester as well as mainline railway stations to London Waterloo in the nearby towns of Crewkerne and Axminster.
